Dear Dad,
In honor of Father’s Day, I want to take a moment to thank the one who is at the heart of who I am. You raised me, taught me, fought for me, and loved me every single day.
As I am about to enter my 29th year on Earth and look back at my life now: building a family with my husband, raising children whose laughter fills our halls, and continuing to grow my photography business in Springfield and throughout Central Illinois: I can’t help but feel overwhelming gratitude.
A Foundation of Love
The truth is, I wouldn’t be where I am today without the foundation my family built for me growing up. And one of the biggest reasons for that is you, Dad.
For as long as I can remember, you’ve been my hero. The selfless man you are inside and out is something I carry with me every day. I remember the times you played catch with me outside, ran beside me as I learned to ride a bike, or toasted marshmallows over the campfire for s’mores. Those may seem like little moments, but to me, they’re everything. They’re reminders of your love, your presence, and your joy in simply being my dad. You’ve always shown me what it means to be strong, selfless, and loving—the kind of father every child deserves.
Thank you for supporting me from my very first breath. While we haven’t always seen eye to eye on every decision, you have never wavered in your love or support. You are still one of the first people I call when I need advice or help, and there is a reason for that. You’ve always been a safe place and a protector.
The PawPaw You've Become
Thank you for loving my family so deeply. From encouraging me to start dating my now-husband to giving your blessing for us to marry, I know that wasn’t easy. I imagine it felt like you were letting go of your little girl. But I hope you know you never lost your princess. I hold onto the walk down the isle before I became a wife. My hands wrapped around your strong arms, as you looked at me with love and grace.
I vividly remember the tears in your eyes when you learned you were going to welcome your first grandbaby, who now looks at your as her everything. I hold onto the joy on your face the first time you held Garrett and held his hand. I see your love in those moments, and I hope you feel that same love from us in return.
Faith That Leads
Most of all, thank you for loving Jesus. Your faith has shaped my life in ways that words can hardly express. You’ve shown me the power of Christ and the depth of His love—a love that has strengthened my marriage, guided me as a mother, and molded my heart for others. It’s the foundation of who I am and the heartbeat behind my photography business—capturing life’s precious moments through the love of Jesus Christ.
Thank you, Dad, for being exactly who you are. I just happen to be especially blessed, because I get to call you "Dad."
Happy Father's Day
