Meet Graham – A Sweet First Birthday Studio Session in Springfield, IL
Graham came to the studio here in Springfield, IL a couple weeks ago to celebrate his very first birthday! While I fully believe first birthdays should be celebrated all week, if not all month, so let's keep celebrating with this blog!
From the moment he arrived, Graham was all smiles. He’s one of those little ones who makes you feel happier just being near him. He’s calm, cheerful, and full of the cutest expressions. His joy filled the entire studio. He clapped, shimmied, and showed off all the cool little tricks he’s been working on. Basically, he stole the show in the best way possible.
For his first birthday session, we started with family portraits of the Eddings family of four. We captured a few sweet moments between Graham and his older brother (who was also full of fun), and of course Graham with mom and dad. After all the family shots, I focused on milestone shots to remember exactly what Graham was like at this age. I kept the setup clean and minimal so all the attention stayed on his bright eyes, sweet smile, and joyful little personality.
And of course, no first birthday session in Springfield is complete without a cake smash to end the fun. This was Graham’s first time ever having cake, which made the moment even more special. He had no hesitation digging in with both hands and feet! After exploring the icing for a bit, he really got the hang of it and went to town.
When I looked around the studio after the cake smash, I didn’t see a mess. I saw a memory made. A little milestone frozen in time. A new experience for Graham and a core memory for his parents. I’m so grateful I was able to be part of it.
To the Eddings family, thank you for trusting me to capture these precious moments. Graham is such a light, and I hope his first birthday is filled with love, laughter, and sweet memories. I hope to see you all again as your family continues to celebrate new milestones!
